Evil Bitch — A Great Combo for a Fall Night’s Whine
“What does this smell like, honey?”
“Alcohol,” says Kayla. It was just that kind of day.
That’s ok though, because we have wine. Two bottles, in fact. Two bottle that our wine guy said must be purchased in pairs– Evil and Bitch.
Evil is a Cabernet Sauvignon from South Eastern Australia. It’s the one that smells like alcohol. It’s got a very dark, winey fragrance. It’s a bit harsh on first sip, with warmth going down. It gets smoother the more you drink. It’s a bit tart, and the tang lingers on the palate. It’s a very dark wine, deep plum coloured, and pretty well opaque.
“Any thoughts, Kayla?”
“You know what it is? It’s like your favourite Halloween candy. Not something interesting, or surprising, just a good, familiar flavour. It’s a treat for adults.” Indeed. Evil is a very straight-up wine kind of wine, well worth a sip with a casual dinner.
And now for what everyone needs after a bad day, Bitch. It’s a Grenache also from South Australia. It’s a pretty wine, a deep orangy fuchsia. It’s light, tangy, drinkable. It’s quite light for a Grenache, with a fair bit of sweetness. The perfect wine to accompany a fine whine.
The day’s looking better already.
